ORIGINAL MEDICARE
Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 years of age or older, or for those under 65 and are disabled or have End Stage Renal Disease. It pays for much of your health care, but not all of it. Such costs could be; prescription drugs, deductibles, coinsurance.
When you take into consideration the deductibles and co-insurance, Medicare pays on average 57% of your total health care costs. See what the 2012 Premium and coinsurances are for Part A & Part B.

LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE
One of the biggest and most costly mistake people make about Medicare is thinking that it covers long-term care. It will only cover short term stays (up to 100 days) in a skilled nursing facility after a 3 day hospital stay. Visit my page on Long-Term Care for more information.
